Do I need a Visa to travel to….?
The title of the post says it all. If you’ve planned a trip internationally at some point or are looking to plan one, this is probably one of the most common questions asked. Luckily, there is a very useful tool that I use to help me do a quick check as to whether I need a Visa to travel to a certain country. This wonderful magical tool is called Passport Index. Passport Index has a comparison tool that allows you to select your passport and look up which countries have a special negotiation with your country to allow Visa-Free travel.
When you visit the Passport Index site, you will be greeted by the home page containing a picture of all the passports in the world. Clicking on these passports will show you their Mobility Score, Global Rank, and Individual Rank.
What is Mobility Score and how is it calculated?
Mobility Score (MS) is the total number of countries that can be easily accessed with a given passport. It is a calculated total based on Visa-free, Visa-on-arrival, eTA, and eVisa issued within 3 days.
For example: If your passport allows you to travel to 32 countries Visa-free, 12 countries with a Visa-on-arrival, 2 countries with an Electronic Travel Authorizations (eTA) and 9 countries with an Electronic Visa that is issued within 3 days (eVisa), then your Mobility Score would be: 32+12+2+9 = 55. You can seamlessly travel to 55 countries with your passport.

How do you use the Passport Index?
Search for your passport and when you click on your passport you will see a breakdown of how many countries your passport can travel to Visa-Free, Visa on Arrival, ETA, and Visa Required.
In the example below, you can see the statistic breakdown, visual map, changes, in global ranking, and a list of countries and their travel status in relation to the passport selected.
Visa-Free countries are denoted by Green, Visa on Arrival/eVisas in Blue, eTA in Yellow, and Visa Required in Red .
